Like all Civil Rights movements, the fight for Climate Justice will be led by the people. We cannot wait for change to occur top-down, they profit too much from the status quo. Instead, we must all support and further the bottom-up movement to co-create a world in which people and planet thrive. • Quote in image: Vandana Shiva • •

ACTS OF LOVE ♥️ In 1978, Dollie Burwell teamed up with Debra and Ken Ferruccio to organize community meetings for local residents concerned about the possibility of PCB-contaminated soil being dumped in Warren County, North Carolina. Burwell played numerous influential roles over the course of the coming years as the environmental justice movement came into existence, and one of those roles was to involve faith communities. Dollie Burwell is considered the Mother of the environmental justice movement against environmental racism ♥️ In the unfolding of the movement, Burwell's own role as a mother to two young daughters was also crucial. Her ten-year-old daughter Kimberly insisted on going to the march on the first day. After watching her mother’s arrest, Kimberly herself was arrested and detained. Notably, by the end of the protests, ninety-four juveniles were arrested. ♥️ In reflecting back, Burwell now observes, "The Washington Post cited the Warren County Environmental Justice Movement as the largest Civil Rights Movement since the 1960s. I believe that was in part because of the role children played in the demonstrations.” ♥️ PCB landfill protest in Afton, North Carolina, September 1982. (Jerome Friar/UNC Libraries) •

Climate change is threatening the lives of the world's poorest and most vulnerable – displacing millions of people. _ These people are known as "climate refugees". But they don't have the same protections as other refugees. It couldn't be more unfair. They haven't caused climate change, yet they suffer the worst of its impacts. _ The richer countries most responsible for the climate crisis aren't doing enough to stop it getting worse – and they're not helping the people most affected. _ We need united CLIMATE ACTION. Join us at CLIMATE JUSTICE to find out more - 28.02.19 - At The Westbank, W10, London ✊🏽 _ (Source: Global Internal Displacement Database and @npr) _

UPCOMING EVENT: Climate Justice: Basic Rights for People & Planet 🌎 Thursday 28th February ✊🏽 The Westbank, London, W10 🌿 Talks, Panel, Food, Drinks, Music & Spoken Word 🕺🏻💃🏾 Tickets in bio link 💧 • Climate change revolves around a question of global inequality and demonstrates the mass destruction fueled by our consumerist growth economy. It is not ‘just’ environmental. It is an ethical, political and social issue — a matter of justice and human rights. The catastrophe we are witnessing today will affect every one of us and every life-form on the planet. But crucially, it is the weakest and most vulnerable in society who will be affected first and most severely. • ⭐️ WE WILL BE JOINED BY: Amnesty International • Global Justice Now • Human Rights Consortium • Environmental Justice Foundation • WaterAid • NHS England • Women’s Environmental Network ⭐️ •

Why Rewilding? "Rewilding ourselves is a reawakening of our sacred relationship with the natural world, an ancient reverence that has been lost and forgotten. Countless generations of humans had an intimate, sacred relationship with nature. Natural cycles unfolded around our ancestors with profound meaning; they were not separate from them. They honored their need for spiritual connection and understanding of life’s mysteries through earth-centric ceremony and ritual, with nature-based creation stories and mythology, and a deep reverence for nature." -- KARA MOSES • • •

😃 On Saturday 2 March we will attend a day-long workshop on ‘Ways To Go Beyond and Why They Work’ with Rupert Sheldrake, Jill Purce and their sons Cosmo and Merlin (This is also the title of @rupertsheldrake new book on spiritual practices- check it out!!) • Tickets on eventbrite! Or DM us for the link 👋🏽 hope to see some familiar faces at what will no doubt be a mind expanding, eye opening and consciousness shifting day! Full write up below 🦋🌻 • To go beyond is to move into a higher state of consciousness, to a place of bliss, greater understanding, and deep connectedness - experiences that all spiritual seekers hope for. People with regular spiritual practices tend to live healthier, happier and longer lives. Science now sheds a new light on many spiritual practices, including meditation, gratitude, chanting, prayer, rituals, pilgrimage and spiritual openings through psychedelics. Everyday activities can also have a mystical dimension, including sports and learning from animals. Rupert and his sons Merlin, an ecologist, and Cosmo, a musician, will explore some of the ways we can learn to reconnect with the more-than-human world around us, and integrate scientific understanding with direct intuitive experience. This day-long event will include practices – including singing led by Cosmo - as well as discussions, and time for questions and answers. We will discuss the revival of pilgrimage and the nature of holy places, and the workshop will probably be followed by a short pilgrimage (20 minutes walk) to St Pancras Old Church, a holy place for more than a thousand years. Jill Purce, Rupert's wife, a pioneer of the sound healing movement, will open the day with a group chant.
