After 2 nights of post-surgical recovery in our bedroom, Gooseberry is finally feeling well enough to go back into the nursery. She’s so happy to be back with her pals! 🥰 #overbitequeen @ith.me.goofberry

Sweet Gooseberry. So gentle, and so strong! Her dental surgery yesterday was pretty intense, and her mouth will be quite uncomfortable for the next few days, but I am so happy she made it through and was able to get the medical care she needed. To be honest, she is pretty zonked...but she’s on good pain meds (buprenorphine), and rested by my side all night and all morning, deeply grateful for cuddles and comfort. I love her so, so much. A petite overbite queen with a heart of pure gold. I can totally understand why the shelter staff was so grateful for us to take her in—she’s truly someone special, and she deserved a chance at a healthy life. Thank you to all who contributed via @orphankittenclub so that she can thrive. ♥️ #overbitequeen @ith.me.goofberry

Our #OverbiteQueen gets her first dental surgery today to remove her lower deciduous canines and incisors, which are causing her issues with jaw development, soft palate damage, and eating. I am so, so grateful we can do this for Gooseberry. Please send her your well wishes! @ith.me.goofberry

Gooseberry is loving life with all of her new kitten friends! She’s now 12 weeks old and is a teeny girl—a month older than the birds, but still smaller than them—so she fits in perfectly! Next week she will have her first dental surgery to remove her lower deciduous canines and incisors. We can’t thank you enough for all of your love and support for her! I’m excited to share that we’ve lined up a wonderful adopter for her, and she’s made an instagram page where we can all follow her in the future! @ith.me.goofberry 🥰 #overbitequeen

Repost via @kittenxlady *Donations requested!* Our kitten Gooseberry saw a fantastic dental specialist yesterday, and we received the unfortunate news that her overbite (class 2 malocclusion) is so severe that she will need two dental surgeries. Gooseberry’s lower canines (fangs) collide with the roof of her mouth. This positioning of her teeth is preventing her jaw from being able to grow—as soon as her canines came in at 4 weeks they began to act as a stopper, preventing her jaw from growing properly, which is why she has the disproportionately small chin of a 4 week old even though she is almost 12 weeks old! She’s also tiny tiny tiny—only the weight of a 7 week old because she has struggled to obtain proper nutrition due to her issues with her mouth. Left untreated, her canines will continue puncturing her soft palate, likely doing serious damage. By removing all of the lower deciduous canines and incisors, her jaw will have an opportunity to grow a bit more, her palate will be protected, and she’ll have an easier time eating. We hope that we can do this first surgery as soon as she hits 2 pounds. At 6-7 months, she will need a second surgery to address the adult teeth—either removal or pulpotomy. We will cover this expense for her future adopter and ensure that she is set up for a healthy life. We took Gooseberry on because we believe she is worthy of support and protection. Will you lend a hand to @orphankittenclub as we change the life of this overbite queen, and so many other special babies like her? Please consider joining our club as a monthly member; you get fun perks (sticker! membership card! seasonal goodies!) and your support helps us continue to say YES to babies like Goosey. Love y’all. This community is just so powerful when we work together. Gooseberry is asleep in my arms as I post this, but I know I speak for her when I say thank you for giving her a chance. ♥️ #overbitequeen

Poor Gooseberry had a rough day! We had a long drive to a feline dental specialist to get answers about her condition (a severe overbite—called a class 2 malocclusion—which causes her lower canines to collide with her soft palate.) We hoped her case would be mild, but it is unfortunately quite severe, and she will need two separate dental surgeries. 😥 I’ll share more about it tomorrow, but right now me and Haroun are just trying to give her some love and let her know that we’ve got her back. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution towards her surgerical procedures at the @orphankittenclub link. We greatly appreciate all who enable us to take on these more serious medical cases who would otherwise have no chance. Gooseberry’s life has value, and she is worth it. ♥️ #overbitequeen
