This rock is at Trephina Gorge in the Eastern MacDonnell Ranges, about 80 kms east of Alice Springs. In this shot it is glowing oranges and browns and every colour between that spectrum but it can suddenly turn to red and purple. It is a spectacular 2km circular walk around the gorge's rim that takes about 45 minutes.Trouble is to get there from here it's about 48hours.It is also famous for what is possibly Australia's oldest Ghost Gum.#trephinagorge#ghostgums##aboriginalart#tingariarts#tingariartsofcentralaustralia#easterndesertart#australianindigenousart#artgalleries#artfairs#alicesprings#australianart#paintings#colour#country#heritage#dreamings#colour#wimbledonfineart#wimbledonvillage#desart#desert#art#centralaustralia#northernterritory

Canvases from the three Tjapaltjarri brothers; Thomas, Warlimpirrnga and Walala. They are members of a Pintupi family of hunter-gatherers who grew up on the western side of Lake Mackay in the Gibson Desert in the centre of Australia.Today they are all famous artists but they were originally famous for being members of a family living a traditional, nomadic life with no contact with the ‘western’ world until late into the 20th century. It was not until 1984 that they first saw a white man.Warlimpirrnga remembers "I couldn't believe it.I thought he was a devil, a bad spirit. He was the colour of clouds at sunrise." The three brothers paint their Tingari, or secret men's business, and each has a very distinct method to express the unique and sacred stories that centre around their family's history, life and ancestry.#australianindigenousart#aboriginalart#painting#easterndesertart#history#desertart#centralaustralia#tingariarts

Natalie Pula Holmes' painting of Sand Dunes in the 1600083077149193244
ReportShareDownload342

Natalie Pula Holmes' painting of Sand Dunes in the Eastern Desert is working well in front of an arrangement of green and white Parrot tulips and Queen Anne's lace florettes. Her painting comprises a spectrum of the colours she sees in the desert; dark greens, russets, reds, greens, oranges on to a range of blues not conceivable outside the desert, is overlaid by her signature lace work forming a screen to halt the eye before revealing the colours beneath. Those Staffordshire zebras seem quite happy.
