Wine wise highlights of New York. Terroirs - Legacy Records - Eleven Madison Park. Each excelling in their very different way of doing. Old Madeiras have for a long time (probably) been my favourite wines - and this d'Oliveiras alongside a H&H pre 1900 solera was no excuse to the magic. How can one not be captured by the balance, liveliness & complexity I wonder? Red Rock Terrace was still really tight with good years to come. A very interesting and evolving drinking experience. **Wine of the Week**⁣ ⁣ All winemakers will agree that one of the most important aspects of making great wine is understanding Terroir: the earth and soil of different regions. It’s impossible to talk about Terroir and not mention Pedro Parra. Pedro Parra holds a PhD in Terroir (yes, this exists) and is making waves with incredible wine from Chile. His grape of choice is Cinsault, which is a difficult grape to grow, but when mastered it can be absolutely stunning. ⁣ ⁣ Today we feature two wines from the same producer. These two wines are part of a series that names bottles after famous Jazz musicians (Theolonious Monk for example), stemming from the fact that Pedro describes the tension of the Jazz Trumpet as similar to the tension in his wines.
