For lunch or dinner in Gig Harbor we highly recommend @table47_gigharbor They have a strong commitment to sustainability and support of local businesses. The Kona Wrap features our wild, sockeye salmon along with a delightful combination of shrimp, pineapple slaw & poblano avocado purée. Yum!

I have been on countless trips north documenting the brown bears of Alaska. This bear oasis holds a special place in my heart, and every time I have the opportunity to travel there, I cherish every moment. The proposed construction of the Pebble Mine will have catastrophic effects on salmon and bears of the Bristol Bay watershed. Bears will be displaced and disturbed by the port construction, port activity, and the travel corridor. The travel corridor will cut off vital migration routes for these bears between Lake Clark National Park, Katmai National Park, and McNeil River Sanctuary. Bear mortality will result from bears interacting with vehicles and personnel, and these inevitable negative interactions will destroy the trust relationship between bears and people, which has been fostered since the 1970's. Bears which become food-conditioned or threatened by humans at the Port and on the corridor will become dangerous to people in the surrounding areas. We cannot let this beautiful place turn into another industrial wasteland. The real gold isn't in the ground; it is wildlife that calls Alaska home. It's been an amazing experience to see footage I've captured over the last 5 years up on the big screen. Helping to paint the picture of the current status of Bristol Bay and what's at stake of being lost forever in the last place where salmon magic still exists. Huge thanks to Mark and his amazing team for including me and wrestling with with the stacks of footage I dumped on their desk. I know that it wasn't an easy task! I encourage all to check out @thewildfilm; Bristol Bay enthusiasts, fish nerds, and everyone else! 📷: @myers.carrie13 #nopebblemine

Here's one small way to save what you love. Starting with the last fully-intact wild salmon run on the planet in Bristol Bay, Alaska. Register your public comment right now with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to tell them Pebble is the wrong mine in the wrong place. Even our youngest members recognize Pebble Mine is a bad idea. This TU tween chose to do his 5th grade reading assignment on it. . @troutunlimited@troutunlimitedalaska #nopebblemine
