Throwback to this fiery desert sunrise in Utah. Has me wanting to get back to the Southwest soon!โœจ๐Ÿœ โœจ I came across this question and it really got me thinking... In โ€˜The War of Artโ€™ by Steven Pressfield, he says โ€œOf any activity you do, ask yourself: If I were the last person on earth, would I still do it?โ€ โœจ I feel like this question is the perfect way to figure out if what we do in life really makes us happy, or if we are doing it for others. When asking myself this question I realized that at the core of it, most of the things that fill my time are exactly what I would be doing regardless of influence by others (spending time in nature, traveling, reading, taking photos, etc.) BUT it made me think about some of the things I do that I definitely adapt to be more readily received or liked by others. โœจ For example, social media often influences the photos I end up taking when on a trip or out on an adventure. I frequently find myself thinking about what you guys (my followers) would like to see and engage with. This means that I sometimes miss taking the photos that I want to take for myself to remember the moment or to get creative. Of course I have to take certain photos for my business and clients, but it made me realize that I shouldnโ€™t be letting it get in the way of creating art just for myself. Art that I donโ€™t need to show anyone or post on social media. This question was a healthy reminder of why I started taking photos in the first place, and a nice prompt to shoot more for myself. โœจ I challenge you guys to ask yourself the same question - If I were the last person on earth, would I still do ________ (insert activity most relevant to you)? Iโ€™d love to hear your thoughts in the comments! ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ * FOLLOW ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡@Hiking.Mellie๐ŸŒฒ withfriends

Hiked a great 7 miles this morning with warm sunshine! ๐ŸŒž It was a tough winter for some of the wildlife around here. Now that the snow is melting, we get to see those that didn't make it. ๐Ÿ˜ž By Fall, there will be nothing left of this buck.
