Btw, this is a mini-workout on its own. 10 minutes tops: • High Knees. • Butt Kicks. • Hip Cradles. • Lateral Slides. • Worlds Greatest Stretch. • High Plank Kick Thru. • Plank Saw. • Single Leg Glute Bridge Trust me. Ten minutes spent in movement prep will dramatically improve your movement patterns during your workout.

O C E A N R E S C U E 🚨 This is a story I need to tell. Sunday the sea was wild and angry. Around 6pm as we were packing up, a woman began screaming and running for the life float. Somehow she passed it to me and without much thought I dove in and swam towards some people in trouble. • I’m very comfortable in the ocean and consider myself a strong swimmer, but was immediately pinned down by a wave. It took me a good 10 minutes to reach the couple who were clinging to a boogie board in a complete state of panic with another person who had pulled them to a safe place and out of the danger zone. I told them to look me in the eyes and take some deep breaths. • We all swam like hell towards shore (which felt like I was dragging a car), where we were PUMMELED by waves. (It was impossible to time the entry with a panicked person in tow). Only when I got to shore did I realize how completely exhausted I was and how gnarly the whole experience had been. (The waves did not look as powerful as they were). • There wasn’t a moment that I thought about what to do, I just ran. I was able to remain calm and focused which is a true testament to what sports have taught me. Spending so much time in the water surfing certainly helped as well.

current preferred method of exercise: 🏄🏼‍♀️. • I know I have an entire season of weight training and indoor exercise ahead of me so I’m focusing on surfing and beach runs while I can. Ps - surfing is one most rigorous and challenging workouts I’ve done, not mention exhilarating. I’m literally STARVING (and stoked) after every session. 📸: @kimmillerphotos

💖 R E U N I T E D 💖 How we met: Jen found my @healthination workouts online and would do them religiously while recovering from breast cancer. Since the workouts were filmed in Venice, Jen believed I lived in California. Nope. We eventually met in my LIFTED class in NYC and while initially the timing wasn’t right, it was meant to be. Two years later, here we are, madly in love and reunited after being apart for four months.

My 20 year old self wanted the body my 40 year old self has today. She trained a little too much, rested too little, had a poor relationship with food and had no idea how to handle stress. My approach to WELLNESS has dramatically changed over the years and I feel INCREDIBLE. Top three tips: 1. Train hard but take at least one FULL day off each week. ENJOY that day off. 2. Understand how food works and EAT WELL. Avoid FAD diets. 3. Train your mind alongside your body. Meditating 10 min each day is a great start. Surround yourself with awesome people and enjoy this life and your body. ⭐️⭐️

Don’t have much time? Grab a couple kettlebells and I gotchu. • Front Racked KB Squats. • Two KB Row • Two KB Deadlift. • KB Push-ups. Do 15 reps of each exercise with no rest in between each movement. Choose a moderate weight (I used 12kg) and rest as little as possible. Repeat 3x with 2 min rest between sets. • I was lacking motivation this particular day and needed some easier movements. I focused on form and breathing. It was not a religious experience type of workout- and that’s okay.

There was a time when I didn’t feel good about a workout unless it left me on the ground. These days I’m approaching my wellness differently. I’d say I have two “religious experiences” of a workout per week. These are the ones that drop me to my knees and I literally pray I can make it through 🤪. The rest of the week is filled with surfing, running and workouts where I focus on form and breathing and good old fun. It’s important to me to just move every day and to move in a way that makes me happy, rather than forcing something. Remember: sleep, recovery, nutrition and peace of mind are just as important (maybe more) as hard a$$ workouts. Ps: posting this workout tomorrow!
