Cinematographer Tal Yarden used a range of Blackmagic Design cameras and ATEM switchers to bring the Tony winning Broadway play “Network” to life on stage, recreating a live news broadcast for the audience. Pictured in the photos is the tech crew on the London production who used Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K, Blackmagic Studio Camera, Video Assist 4K, ATEM 2 M/E Production Studio 4K and ATEM 1 M/E Advanced Panel to film and live switch the performance. Yarden explained, “The Micro Studio Camera 4Ks were in constant use and were the main cameras for the show. We did many long fluid steadicam shots navigating around the set and catching moments of action in a complex choreography.” Learn more at https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/media/release/20190709-01 Production credit: @networkbway

Apex Broadcast recently installed the ATEM Constellation 8K in their custom built OB truck to help broadcast the Blancpain GT World Challenge America. The workflow is complemented by 13 URSA Broadcast cameras, additional ATEM switchers and panels, HyperDeck Studio broadcast decks and more. “The 4 M/Es on the ATEM Constellation 8K have given us tons of flexibility in terms of what we feed to different broadcast destinations during the races. In a given show, we’ll have our primary cut which is going to the television network. Then, often times, there is a screen cut that is sent to jumbos or to a TV nearby” explained Apex founder Clark Cambern. Learn more at https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/media/release/20190702-01

Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro and Blackmagic RAW were used to capture Diplo’s latest music video, ‘So Long’, featuring country artist Cam. Director Brandon Dermer and cinematographer Wojciech Kielar chose a shooting style that captured the feeling of Stagecoach while also keeping the rich saturation of electronic dance music. “We married the best parts of those looks together,” said Kielar, “and had a plan to give the video a gritty feel, while also saturating colors.” They turned to colorist Ryan McNeal to create the final look using DaVinci Resolve Studio. Pulitzer Prize winning filmmaker and photographer, Vincent Laforet talks about shooting with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, and how important the dynamic range was in capturing the extreme conditions of the Wyoming wilderness. “What’s impressive about this package is the micro four thirds sensor. This sensor has an incredible roll off of highlights that I seldom see which really opens up your ability to capture an incredible dynamic range, from the deep shadows to extremely high highlights all the way to the sunlight”. Battling everything from dust storms to high temperatures, filmmaker Bryan Harris counted on Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro while capturing the old west for ‘A Prayer for the Damned’. He then used DaVinci Resolve Studio for the film’s editing, grading and audio, often jumping back and forth between the Fairlight and Color pages so he could audition different audio options with different color grades to ensure each scene’s tone fit the story.
