I am so happy that I am stubborn, I am so happy that I am a bit hard-headed, and I am so grateful that I am focused.
When I began writing children's books- I was told, "Nobody cares about kid's books!" "Children books are such a limited market!" "children books with kids of color on the cover, will not be well received!" What made it worse, these were told me by fellow black authors. What they didn't take into account ( hopefully they see now) was my willingness to work my ass off.
The journey isn't over, but I must appreciate achievements along the way. Such pride in announcing that "Why is Jane so Mad?" is currently on the shelves at the NorthWest African American museum and the Columbia City Gallery.
Both organizations, respectively, have gone above and beyond with their support of my book and my vision.
Do me a favor, whichever area you are in, please drop by either one and pick up a copy for yourself. Please make me look good, lol. Much love!
