View neokidsfoundation's Instagram As part of #pregnancyandinfantlossawarenessmonth, Kaycee and her husband, Dan wanted to make a special donation to the birthing centre @hsnsudbury in memory of their son, Dominic.
After experiencing a personal tragedy in 2013, Kaycee and her family wanted to give back to the unit by donating a CuddleCot. The CuddleCot’s temperature-controlled bassinet system cools baby allowing families to stay with their baby during their bereavement period. She hopes the CuddleCot will be able to provide some added comfort to families who go through a similar experience. Thank you Kaycee and Dan for sharing your story and for your heartwarming donation to #NEOKids. 1629237813714959208_2256497010

"I left the meeting as early as I could excuse myself and came home, hobbling in our back door, running to the bathroom. I knew what to expect but nothing prepares you for the emotional and physical toll of blood loss, hormone loss, and the tiny baby loss in the moment.⠀
.⠀
Before I got married I thought, at times, women could be dramatic about their infertility or miscarriages. I thought: “Children are a blessing, but they’re not an idol. Why is your world falling apart because of this?” As I lay sobbing on our bed that day, I hiccupped through the words, “I just want it to stop.”⠀
.⠀
... The Psalmist David knew this slow drive too. He said the words, “How long, O Lord?” nine times in the book of Psalms. He was desperate for the Lord to relent, to show up, to release, and to end David’s suffering. We, like David, are not good in the middle of things. We don’t like it. We can anticipate the danger or suffering ahead, even know the right theology to regard it, but when the gushing pain begins, where is our hope then?⠀
.⠀
Our hope is in the permission to say, with David, “How long, O Lord?” And then to keep saying it, for as long as we are still waiting for it to relent.⠀
.⠀
... Our Father knows the searing loss of losing a child. Our Savior said these words on the cross, “My God. My God. Why have you forsaken me?” Our Spirit groans with us in our weakness with words too deep for us to even understand. Surely there is permission to sit, ache, mourn, and weep in this middle place?"⠀
.⠀

View alwaysnelson's Instagram Capture your grief - Day 18: Grief Shift
I have made a pact to spend the next three months NOT researching preeclampsia and searching for answers. Since Nelson died I have been obsessed with finding as much information as possible and trying to make sense out of why this could happen. I have learned a lot, but it also gives me a lot of anxiety. The frustrating thing is that there are no clear answers. Nobody knows exactly why preeclampsia happens, except that it has something to do with the original implantation of the placenta at conception. There are certain risk factors that can put you at higher risk, none of which I have. It is SO frustrating!!! So I have decided that I need to take a break. Searching for answers is a form of grief, but for now I need to find more healing ways to grieve.
...
I listened to a moving podcast yesterday, On Being (one of my favorites!). The interview featured Joan Halifax and they were discussing a quote she said in the past: “Tasting stillness and knowing that it is medicine.” This is what I want to explore for the next few months. Instead of searching for answers I’m going to focus on just being with what happened. Instead of reading about the placenta and everything that can go wrong with it I’m going to focus on creating new rituals to honor Nelson and feel close to him.
...
The picture I’ve included is from the book “Tear Soup” by Pat Schwiebert and Chuck DeKlyen. Arlo and I have really enjoyed reading it together and it has provided some really useful insight into the grief process.

"She was brave, and strong, and broken. All at once." - Anna Funder.
This week has been hard with Kate Middleton in the news and her announced due month of April. Our baby would have been due at the same time, and I remember joking when her pregnancy was announced, that Kate and I always have our babies around the same time.
I thought I was beginning to get back on track; returning to a sort of 'normal'. But my anxiety has knocked me sideways and I've found myself panicking about the smallest of things. I'm trying to be brave and strong. I'm trying so hard to keep going, but I really just want to sleep for days. #missedmiscarriage #anxiety #motherhoodunplugged 1628873291493849065_145376752
