The Evil Within 2
Where should I begin with this game?
Maybe the beginning? But that would take me all the way back to the first game, and I honestly don't remember it all that well. Let's just shoot straight and hope for the best then. First of all, if you haven't played the first game you will not understand this one at all. If you've played the first game and think you know what to expect then keep on reading. The Evil within 2 focuses on Detective Sebastian Castellanos as he's thrust back into a new STEM machine in search for his thought to be dead daughter. Sebastian feels like a broken and hunted man in this one. He's still shook about the events that took place in the first game, even though its been 3 years since then, and who would blame him, Ruvik's mind was terrifying, luckily for him though, this time around it won't be as bad. Which brings us to my first point. This game isn't as scary as the first. It isn't as clusterphobic, and it's monsters aren't as scary. The shooting really got on my nerves sometimes because it was finicky. I liked the visuals when they focused on the trippy scenery and mind bending architecture. It also looked great when it didn't give you a close up on the characters faces, which look creepy. There are quite a number of secrets and collectables to find in this game if you're into that, which is helped by the fact that some parts of the game are an open world that gives you the freedom to look around and take on some side missions that usually give you some great rewards. There are some bugs and the game and it crashed once on me but it wasn't that bad. The game is charming with its story, especially with Sebastiten feeling more human and likable this time around. The game is most terrifying when it first begins since you are severely under powered, and are being chased by monsters you've never seen before. This all changes though as you progress through the game and gather supplies and gun. It becomes less of a survival horror and more of a action- shooter with bad shooting controls. The game just slightly change halfway through where it introduces new enemies but still the lack of terrifying monsters is disappointing-77%
