Naticoke Nectar India Pale Ale by RAR (Real Ale Revival Brewing) in Cambridge, MD is today's review. 7.4% ABV. Canned on 10/3/17. Thank you Susan for providing this example. Served at 47°F.
Overall Impression: This is a citrusy, smoothly bitter beer with honey character. The hops present themselves quite prominently at the beginning but some how fade as the beer is consumed. This is where the honey character starts to become more pronounced. But it is not cloying and and the bitterness supports the beer throughout. No DMS or diacetyl detected. I would prefer it to finish slightly drier and to have slightly lower hot alcohol sensation. I have the impression that this beer probably tastes incredible when fresh. The honey character intensifies as it warms. Overall my initial sips were very enjoyable but as it warmed the sweet honey impression took over. So initially very enjoyable but by the time I would get around to ordering another beer, I would choose something else at a bar.
Aroma: High grapefruit, pine, and orange. Moderate mango and berry. Med-low honey, biscuit, and melon.
Appearance: Pours a deep, dirty, and high hazy orange/gold. Has a med-low, off-white foam that has moderate retention and moderate lacing.
Flavor: Med-high orange, grassy, and pine. Moderate honey, and biscuit. Moderately smooth bitterness. Aftertaste linger moderately with a moderate honey, orange, and lemon with moderate bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Med-light body and carbonation. Moderate alcohol warming. Creamy and coating mouthfeel. #naticokenectar #ipa #americanipa #cicerone #craftbeer #GreenwichCT
