It's a Christmas painting, in my mind, but it could also be just a landscape. I worked on this painting for a while, intending to frame it with an arched opening like this, but the painting was scraped back a couple times before realizing I needed the arch to aid in my composition. So, I sanded it down, put in the arch, taped it off, and did the painting. After that the composition happened much more naturally! The artistic process, a constant lesson in patience, resourcefulness, and courage.
