View greeradams's Instagram On top of the many things I do as a profession week to week, I’m an art dealer and valuer with a deep passion for my specialisation in Aboriginal art. Some weeks I’m allllll art and other weeks it plays second fiddle. This week has been saturated in it.
.
The artworld part of me gets tucked away because it didn’t seem on theme here but this page is about all of me and what matters to me the most, this includes my love of Australian Indigenous art! So in essence from time to time you may see some work on this page that lights me up!✨
.
#Tbt my first ever exhibition in 2014 under my own banner, starring the one and only late Janangoo Butcher Cherel. This is a detail from one of the greatest paintings I’ve ever had the privilege to sell and one of the hardest to let go of. 1648160115410706126_2485711

View artinterface_aboriginal_art's Instagram ‘Kulata Tjuta’ (Many Spears) installation part of TARNANTHI exhibition at the Art Gallery of South Australia. This highly important statement of suffering and cultural preservation instigated by senior members of the Anangu Pitjanjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands is amongst the most moving works of works at Tarnanthi. Traditionally made spears and carved piti (wooden bowls) represent the explosive cloud witnessed during the British atomic bomb testing at Maralinga sixty years ago and the devastating effects . It is said to have created hollows in the ground in which people sheltered in fear of what they had seen. These are represented by the piti. The symbolic arrangement of the empty food and water vessels are perhaps indicative of place and the land left barren as a result of nuclear testing. #australianindigenousart #apy #aboriginalsculpture #keepingculturealive #maralinga 1647501128118022569_4220973423

View artinterface_aboriginal_art's Instagram UWALKI WATIYA TJUTJA by Mitjili Napurrula | Acrylic on canvas | 91 x 122cm | www.artinterface.net | Mitjili Napurrula is a Pintupi woman from the Haasts Bluff region in the Northern Territory. This work is a beautiful example Mitjili’s distinctive style and one of her preferred subject matters, ‘Ulwalki’. Ulwalki is her father’s traditional land with it’s pristine sand hills, bushes and ‘Watiya’ which are the trees that provide wood for spears. ‘Watiya tjuta’ (Acacia trees) are related to men’s sacred business. The tree motives are drawn from patterns her mother drew in the sand. Mitjili Napurrula’s work is held in the collection of the National Gallery of Australia, the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, the National Gallery of Victoria and the Art Gallery of New South Wales amongst other major public and private collections in both Australia and internationally. #mitjilinapurrula #pintupi #australianindigenousart #aboriginalart #landscape #landscapeart #painting #indigenousart #australianart #art #artwork #artoftheday #artforsale #artistsoninstagram #onlineart #onlinegallery #artinterface_aboriginal_art #byappointmentartgallery #interiordesign 1641769465228323370_4220973423

View artinterface_aboriginal_art's Instagram Bringing people and nature together - ‘Norr Kauco’ (Reef Lei) by Nancy Naawi | Medium : Ghost nets, rope, twine, cast resin and found shells | In the Torres Strait Islands, as people are greeted or come together as a family for celebration, Kauco ( or Leis ) traditionally made from frangipani flowers are put over peoples’ heads. This act welcomes, re-establishes connections or creates new ones. The Kauco is then admired and talked about. The ‘Norr’ (Reef) is important to family life and existence, a place to gather, fish, picnic and play. By making Norr Kauco and utilizing recuperated materials from the ocean, Erub Island artist Nancy Naawi is demonstrating the reef’s importance as part of her family and underlines the dangers it faces.
